Start a Solo Study

Solo study allows you to work through a study independently, at your own pace, with complete privacy for your answers and notes. This guide covers starting a solo study and understanding the solo study experience.

First, you need to select a study from your Library. If you haven’t already, you can select a study. Your Library contains studies from groups you’ve joined. If you need access to more studies, consider joining additional groups.

Once you’ve selected a study:

  1. From the study details page, click Start a Solo Study
  2. After confirmation, your personal study instance is created immediately
  3. You’re automatically taken to the study where you can begin your solo journey.

What happens:

  • BookFellows creates a complete, immutable copy of the study just for you
  • You become the sole member of this personal study instance
  • All your answers and notes remain private by default
  • However, you have the option to share your answers with the study creator.
  • Your progress is tracked automatically

Once you’ve started your solo study, you’re ready to engage with the content by participating in personal study activities. This includes navigating lessons, answering questions thoughtfully, making notes, and tracking your progress.

If someone invites you to a class for the same study, you can respond to the study invitation. Your progress and answers transfer to the new class automatically. After you join, you may then choose to share answers with classmates.

What transfers:

  • All your progress through lessons
  • All your answers and notes
  • Your current position in the study

What changes:

  • You become part of a class with other members
  • You can share answers with the class (optional)
  • You can view shared answers from others
  • Your solo study becomes a class study
