Generate a Draft Study with StudyBot
StudyBot uses an OpenAI large language model (LLM) to help you create complete study drafts quickly. Instead of manually writing every lesson and question, you provide a series of prompts to describe what you want. Then StudyBot generates a complete study structure for you to review and refine.
Understanding StudyBot

How StudyBot Works

Prerequisites

Before using StudyBot:
Clear study concept:

- Available to all members but with some usage limits (check your plan)
- May require Supporter or Patron plan (check current pricing)
- Access through Drafts page

Access StudyBot
Section titled “Access StudyBot”- From the main menu, open the Drafts page
- From the Drafts page, click Generate New Study with StudyBot
- The StudyBot prompt page will be displayed
Enter the StudyBot Prompts
Section titled “Enter the StudyBot Prompts”The StudyBot page has two main sections: StudyBot Writer and StudyBot Artist. You’ll provide prompts to instruct the StudyBot on what to create.
StudyBot Writer
Section titled “StudyBot Writer”This section has two text prompts that work together to generate your study content.
Study Writing Capabilities
Section titled “Study Writing Capabilities”Think of this as a job description for your study writer. Describe what expertise and capabilities you want the StudyBot to have.
- Enter a description of the StudyBot’s expertise and persona
- Define what kind of writer you need (biblical scholar, literature expert, etc.)
- Specify the writing style and approach you want
- Include any specific guidelines for creating content
Examples:
- “You are an expert curriculum designer specialising in biblical studies…”
- “You are an expert in classical literature with a focus on Roman texts…”
- “You create engaging studies for young adults exploring life decisions…”

Study Writing Instructions
Section titled “Study Writing Instructions”Tell the StudyBot exactly what study you want it to create today. Be as specific as possible.
- Describe the study topic or book
- Specify the number of lessons
- Define your target audience
- State how many questions per lesson
- Mention the study cadence (daily, weekly, etc.)
- Describe key themes to cover
- Include any special requirements
Example: “Create a 5 lesson weekly study on the Book of Daniel for young professionals in their 20s and 30s. Include 4-6 questions per lesson focusing on themes of faithfulness under pressure, career decisions, and standing firm in values…”

StudyBot Artist (Optional)
Section titled “StudyBot Artist (Optional)”The Artist section lets you generate custom images for your study and lessons. Check the Generate Study and Lesson Images checkbox to enable this feature.
Artist Style
Section titled “Artist Style”If generating images, describe the artistic style and capabilities you want.
- Enter a description of the StudyBot Artist’s style and expertise
- Define what kind of artwork you want (watercolor, stained glass, mosaic, etc.)
- Specify color palettes and themes
- Include any guidelines for appropriate content
Example: “You love to paint with watercolours in a warm, welcoming style suitable for biblical studies. You prefer soft, natural colors with golden accents. Your images are clean, modern, and appropriate for all ages…”

Study Image Instructions
Section titled “Study Image Instructions”Describe what themes and elements to include in the study cover image.
Example: “The image should be inspiring and peaceful, showing people studying together in a warm setting. Include subtle biblical symbolism if appropriate…”
Lesson Image Instructions
Section titled “Lesson Image Instructions”Describe what themes and elements to include in the lesson images.
Example: “Show individuals and families in various life settings - work, home, and community. Keep the tone encouraging and relatable…”

Generate Your Study
Section titled “Generate Your Study”Let StudyBot create your draft.
Start Generation
Section titled “Start Generation”- Review all your prompts one more time
- Ensure all required fields are filled in
- Click the Generate Study button
- Confirm you want to proceed in the confirmation dialog
- StudyBot begins processing
What happens:
- Progress modal opens showing generation status
- AI analyzes your prompts
- Generates study structure
- Creates lessons sequentially
- Writes questions and headings
- Generates images if requested
- Formats content appropriately
- May take 30 seconds to several minutes (longer with images)
While generating:
- Progress bar shows percentage complete
- Status message shows current step
- Don’t close browser or navigate away
- Be patient—larger studies and image generation take longer
- Generation time varies by study size and image option

Review Generated Content
Section titled “Review Generated Content”Carefully examine what StudyBot created.
Initial Review
Section titled “Initial Review”When generation completes, you’ll be automatically taken to the draft study page where you can review the generated content:
- Study details are displayed at the top
- All lessons are listed
- Click on any lesson to view its questions and headings
- Review the complete structure and content
What to review:
- Study title, subtitle, and description
- Lesson titles and descriptions
- Questions and their organization
- Headings and context they provide
- Generated images (if you enabled image generation)
What to Look For
